Ruben Amorim has candidly acknowledged his errors during his time as Manchester United manager, describing it as a significant learning experience. In his first press conference as AC Milan’s new head coach, the Portuguese coach reflected on his challenging 14-month tenure in the Premier League, which ended with his dismissal in January.

Amorim stated, "It’s hard to explain the mistakes because for that I would have to explain all the context of the last adventure. The only thing to say is I learned a lot and I did some mistakes."

He expressed regret for not addressing the Old Trafford fans directly, saying, "I didn’t have the opportunity, and I’m sorry for that, to say something to the Manchester United fans. I’m really proud to be their coach for a year in that time."

Taking charge in November 2024 after Erik ten Hag’s departure, Amorim struggled to improve the club's fortunes, culminating in a 15th-placed finish in the Premier League and a loss to Tottenham in the Europa League final. His tactical approach and limited integration of academy players drew significant criticism.

His record at United was disappointing, winning just 25 of 63 matches, with a points-per-game average of 1.23, the lowest of any United manager in the Premier League era.

Amorim emphasized, "Everyone learns from their experience. I learned a lot. I did some mistakes. There are some things I will try to change and there are some things you never change. But I think I will be a better coach."

Now signed to a three-year contract with AC Milan, he succeeds Massimiliano Allegri, looking forward to a fresh start.
