Belgium striker Romelu Lukaku has officially signed with Turkish side Fenerbahce from Napoli. The 33-year-old forward faced a challenging season marred by injuries, making only seven appearances across all competitions for the Serie A club.

Returning to Turkey brings back memories for Lukaku, who lived there during the 1996-1997 season while his father, Roger, played professionally for Genclerbirligi. In a heartfelt social media video directed at Fenerbahce fans, he expressed his enthusiasm:

It's an honour and a privilege to be joining your club. I am fit, 100%, ready to go. It is an emotional moment after many years to be going back to Turkey where I lived as a young kid, where I discovered the professional world as a toddler with my dad.

The specifics regarding the transfer fee and contract length remain undisclosed. Despite his injury woes last season, Lukaku showcased his talent by scoring three goals at the recent World Cup.

His impressive career includes winning the Belgian championship with Anderlecht, a Fifa Club World Cup with Chelsea, and a Scudetto with both Inter Milan and Napoli. Lukaku becomes the second former Manchester United forward to join Fenerbahce this summer, following Mason Greenwood's transfer from Marseille.

Fenerbahce, who have finished as runners-up to Galatasaray for the past four seasons, seek to reclaim the Turkish league title, which they last won in 2014.
