The Football Association of Ireland (FAI) has announced that the upcoming Nations League match between Republic of Ireland and Israel will take place at a neutral venue and behind closed doors. Originally scheduled for October 4 at Dublin’s Aviva Stadium, the match has been relocated following approval from Uefa.

This decision comes amid heightened tensions and protests in Ireland regarding the ongoing conflict in the Middle East. The FAI stated:

"Following consultation with various stakeholders, the Association is of the view that operational challenges could impact on the delivery of the game on home soil, so the fixture will be played away from the Aviva Stadium."

The FAI expressed gratitude towards An Garda Síochana (Irish police) for their support and guidance throughout this period. The board deemed the shift to a neutral location as the most appropriate action, emphasizing the importance of safety and logistical feasibility.

Additionally, the teams are set to meet again at a neutral venue for Israel's home match in Group B3 a week prior to the Dublin game. The relocation reflects the growing sentiment within Ireland, with increasing calls for a boycott of the match due to the sensitive political climate.
