The Palestine Football Association (PFA) has expressed that it does not endorse the decision to move the Republic of Ireland's Nations League match against Israel to a neutral venue. The Football Association of Ireland (FAI) confirmed that the fixture will take place on October 4 at a closed-door location, following approval from Uefa.

Pressure has been mounting to boycott the game, highlighted by protests outside the Dail and disruptions during a friendly against Qatar. The Irish Sport for Palestine group has launched a 'Stop the Game' campaign in response to the ongoing situation.

In its statement, the FAI quoted the Palestine FA, which acknowledged the FAI's respect for Palestinian rights. However, the Palestine FA clarified that it has not supported the decision to proceed with the match, emphasizing that any interpretation suggesting otherwise misrepresents their position.

The FAI has maintained that fulfilling the fixture is crucial, warning that not doing so could result in the forfeiture of six points, potentially leading to relegation and impacting both Uefa and Fifa rankings for Irish football. This scenario could inadvertently benefit Israel in the Nations League.

The Palestine FA reiterated its longstanding principle of respecting each association's autonomy but firmly stated that it does not endorse the match. They criticized any portrayal that might lend political legitimacy to Israel's participation in international football amid ongoing violations of sporting statutes.

Furthermore, the PFA continues to seek accountability through Fifa and other bodies regarding Israel's actions, stressing the toll on Palestinian athletes and infrastructure due to the conflict. They firmly reject any narrative that normalizes Israel's involvement in football while such violations persist.
