Lipowitz had been a strong contender, sitting in fifth place before the stage. His unfortunate fall resulted in immediate medical attention, leaving Evenepoel to reflect on the mixed emotions of his triumph. "It’s unbelievable to take two victories in a row," he remarked, expressing concern for his teammate's well-being.

Evenepoel finished 28 seconds ahead of Tadej Pogacar, the yellow jersey holder, who maintained a lead of four minutes and 32 seconds over Evenepoel in the overall standings. Pogacar experienced a tense moment on the same corner but managed to stay upright.

Despite his success, Evenepoel remained realistic about his chances in the overall race, stating, "Honestly not [thinking about winning the Tour]." He acknowledged the honor of competing alongside Pogacar, a five-time Tour champion.

Mattias Skjelmose from Lidl-Trek claimed third place with a time of 33:23.64, while the challenging course ahead, including a climb on the Cote de Larringes, promises to test all riders further. The competition for the best young rider's white jersey intensified as Paul Seixas edged out Isaac del Toro for a crucial five seconds, now trailing him by 20 seconds overall.
