Jackson Koivun has earned a surprising debut for Team USA in the upcoming 2026 Presidents Cup, just months after turning professional. The announcement comes as former world No. 1 Jason Day missed out on a spot in the International Team.

At just 21 years old, Koivun has quickly made a name for himself, winning the PGA Tour's 3M Open three tournaments after his professional debut and qualifying for the FedExCup Playoffs. With his selection, he will become the youngest American to compete at the Presidents Cup since Jordan Spieth in 2015, as Brandt Snedeker named him among his six captain's picks for this year’s event at Medinah Country Club.

Koivun is one of three debutants on Snedeker's team, joining Chris Gotterup and Jacob Bridgeman, both of whom have had successful seasons. Snedeker praised Koivun’s poise and confidence, stating, "It's rare to see a player this young demonstrate the level of poise and confidence that Jackson has."

The rest of the 12-man lineup features experienced players like Xander Schauffele, Justin Thomas, and Patrick Cantlay, who all return for their fourth Presidents Cup appearances. Notably, Ben Griffin and last year's US Open winner JJ Spaun were left out.

On the International Team side, Sungjae Im and Corey Conners are set to make their returns, alongside rookies Christiaan Bezuidenhout, Nico Echavarria, Nick Taylor, and Ryo Hisatsune. Geoff Ogilvy, the captain of the International Team, highlighted Bezuidenhout’s experience as a key factor in his selection.

The qualification for both teams has been a competitive process, with Scottie Scheffler leading the USA qualifiers, and Si Woo Kim topping the International Team standings.
