Crystal Palace manager Pierre Sage is under scrutiny following a challenging start to the Premier League season. Despite the mounting concerns, the Eagles are not contemplating a managerial change and are committed to giving the Frenchman time to implement his strategies, as reported by Football Insider.

The Eagles have conceded 11 goals across their opening four league matches, raising significant defensive questions. Their latest setback was a 3-2 defeat against Ipswich Town, where they allowed a late goal that highlighted their ongoing defensive struggles. The club acknowledges that Sage has faced a tough set of circumstances, including the departure of Maxence Lacroix in the summer, which left a notable gap in the squad. New signings Axel Disasi and Honest Ahanor arrived on loan as part of a defensive rebuild, but the impact of these changes is still unfolding.

Additionally, Sage had to manage a disrupted pre-season, with several Palace players participating in the World Cup before returning to club duties. While the club remains patient with Sage, there is an expectation for improved results and performances in the coming weeks.

Mick Brown, former chief scout for Manchester United, believes there are enough positives for Palace to build on, but warns that the defensive issues cannot persist indefinitely. The Eagles demonstrated offensive potential during their victory over Fulham, yet regularly conceding two or three goals will hinder their ambitions this season.

Sage must quickly find solutions to establish greater defensive stability. For now, Crystal Palace stands by their manager, but continued defensive lapses could heighten pressure on him, especially if results do not improve. The upcoming weeks are pivotal for Sage as he strives to convince the Palace hierarchy of his capability to turn the situation around.
