England’s Alex Fitzpatrick heads into the final round of the PGA Tour’s Truist Championship with a one-shot lead after a remarkable performance at Quail Hollow Club. Fitzpatrick carded an impressive seven-under 64, featuring eight birdies and a single bogey, elevating his total to 14 under.

Kristoffer Reitan from Norway trails closely, sitting one stroke back, while Cameron Young dazzled with a round-of-the-day 63, placing him third, just two shots off the lead. The leaderboard also showcases:

• Nicolai Hojgaard and Sungjae Im, both tied for fourth at 10 under.
• JJ Spaun and Justin Thomas are five shots behind at nine under.
• Tommy Fleetwood, who played alongside Im, is tied for sixth after a one-under 70.

In contrast, Rory McIlroy, a four-time champion of the event, saw his title aspirations diminish after a disappointing third-round 75. Starting the day four strokes off the lead, McIlroy struggled significantly, making birdies on the par-four first but quickly lost momentum with bogeys on both par-threes and four consecutive bogeys on the back nine.

Despite salvaging a final birdie on the par-five 15th, McIlroy concluded the round at one under, leaving him far from contention as he heads into the final day.
