Sentry Insurance steps in as the new title sponsor for the Torrey Pines tournament, succeeding a successful eight-year run at Kapalua. The event is scheduled for January 27-30, 2027, at the iconic North and South courses in San Diego, which has been a staple of the PGA Tour since 1968. To avoid clashing with the NFL’s conference championship games, the tournament will conclude on Saturday.

This transition comes after Sentry's previous sponsorship at Kapalua, which began in 2018. Originally a winners-only affair, the tournament expanded to include the top 50 in the FedEx Cup standings. However, it faced cancellation in 2026 due to a water dispute on Maui, leading to a shift in the tour's schedule and the loss of the Hawaii swing, which included both Kapalua and the Sony Open.

The PGA Tour is currently reevaluating its schedule, with potential changes coming as soon as 2028. The Torrey Pines event will mark its 60th iteration next year, having previously hosted the U.S. Open in 2008 and 2021.

PGA Tour CEO Brian Rolapp expressed pride in continuing the legacy of elite competition in San Diego, emphasizing the tournament's philanthropic impact alongside Sentry Insurance. Meanwhile, Marty Gorsich, CEO of the Century Club of San Diego, highlighted the excitement of partnering with Sentry, known for its strong community engagement.
