Paul Pogba is on the verge of departing Monaco, with discussions underway regarding a possible contract termination. The former World Cup winner joined the Ligue 1 club last summer after being allowed to return to professional football following a doping suspension.

Pogba had initially signed a two-year deal, set to last until the end of the upcoming season. However, a source informed the BBC that negotiations for an early exit are progressing and are expected to conclude shortly. Monaco has yet to issue a statement regarding the matter.

His first season with Monaco was plagued by injuries, but there was optimism that the France international would see more playtime this season. Yet, a managerial change—Filipe Luis replacing Sebastien Pocognoli—might prompt Monaco to explore new directions in their central midfield.

Pogba's career faced a significant setback when he received a provisional four-year ban from football due to a positive test for dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) in February 2024, following a doping test conducted in August 2023. He has consistently asserted that the positive result was a mistake, claiming he unknowingly consumed a supplement containing a banned substance.
