Kenneth Walker III made an explosive debut for the Kansas City Chiefs, rushing for 173 yards and scoring two touchdowns, while Patrick Mahomes marked his return from knee surgery in a commanding 31-10 victory over the Denver Broncos on Monday night.

The Chiefs ended a three-game losing streak against their rivals, which had halted their nine-year reign as AFC West champions. Walker's performance was particularly notable, as he recorded the highest rushing yards by a Chiefs player since Jamaal Charles in 2012.

Key statistics from the game include:

The Broncos struggled offensively under new coordinator Davis Webb, finishing with just 176 yards of total offense. Nix's performance included a touchdown but was marred by a fumble and an interception.

Mahomes quickly silenced critics regarding his knee, scoring on a 15-yard touchdown run on the Chiefs' opening drive. Walker's contributions were pivotal, especially his 60-yard touchdown run to open the second half.

After trading field goals, Mahomes and Walker combined for a clever touchdown play, showcasing the team's creativity and resilience. Walker acknowledged Mahomes's impact, stating, "Pat's the best quarterback in the league. He makes the run game a lot easier."

Head coach Andy Reid praised Mahomes's performance, calling it "phenomenal" and expressing pride in his ability to return and contribute significantly. Mahomes, reflecting on the game, emphasized the importance of teamwork and looked forward to building on this early season victory.
