Packers running back Josh Jacobs has taken legal action against the Hobart-Lawrence Police Department in Wisconsin, aiming to prevent the release of evidence related to his criminal case, including a crucial video of an incident from May 23. Jacobs' lawsuit, obtained by ABC-7, highlights several concerns regarding the release of this evidence.

The key points outlined in the lawsuit include:

• Protection of Victim's Identity: Jacobs emphasizes the need to safeguard the identity of the woman involved, referred to as ANM in court documents. His legal team argues that releasing the video could lead to unwanted public scrutiny and revictimize her, as she seeks closure rather than attention.

• Safety Concerns for Jacobs: The lawsuit also raises alarms about potential robberies targeting Jacobs' home, stating that public figures are often at risk. It warns that releasing details about his schedule or residence could make him a target for property crimes.

Following his no contest plea to two misdemeanors in September, Jacobs remains on the NFL's exempt list, as the league awaits access to the video before making any decisions regarding his reinstatement. The NFL has filed a records request but has yet to receive the footage.

In a previous case, the NFL suspended Ray Rice for two games for assault, which escalated after a video surfaced, indicating the league's hesitance to act without seeing the evidence. As of October 11, the NFL stated that the review of Jacobs' situation continues with no clear timeline for resolution.

With Jacobs sidelined, the Packers have struggled offensively, averaging just 60.4 rushing yards per game, the lowest in the NFL. The uncertainty surrounding Jacobs' return leaves the team in a challenging position moving forward.
