Paul Elliott is set to face Shamil Erdogan in a pivotal heavyweight clash at ONE Fight Night 48 on October 2, with the winner potentially earning a shot at the vacant ONE heavyweight MMA world title. This title was last held by Anatoly Malykhin before his retirement.

Elliott, who boasts an 8-2 record with all victories coming by knockout, made history in June by tying the record for the fastest knockout in ONE history, finishing Regan Upshaw in just six seconds. While he expressed uncertainty about replicating that feat, he remains committed to finishing fights.

Elliott commented on the upcoming bout:

I think it’s going to be a great fight. He’s super skilful, I’m super skilful. I believe that whoever wins this will get a title shot.

He acknowledged the challenges posed by Erdogan, who, despite being two years older, is known for his technical prowess and resilience. Elliott anticipates a competitive match, likely extending beyond the first round.

Looking ahead, Elliott identified Ben Tynan as a potential opponent for the vacant title if he secures victory. He stated, "It would be a huge achievement to fight for a title, let alone win one. It will be the best thing I’ve ever done in my life."

In addition to Elliott's fight, the event will feature Luke Lessei against Charlie Guest in a significant Muay Thai match that could impact the featherweight title picture, with Guest holding a 38-15 record and Lessei at 9-3.
