Manchester United is monitoring Alex Scott following his standout season at Bournemouth, though a transfer does not seem imminent. Former United chief scout Mick Brown confirmed to Football Insider that Scott is on Michael Carrick’s radar, but doubts a move will happen soon.

Brown stated:

"Alex Scott is on Man United’s radar, he’s on a lot of top clubs’ radars. He’s gone away with England before the World Cup, which is a big endorsement from Thomas Tuchel and will enhance his reputation."

Scott's stock has risen significantly after a remarkable campaign, contributing to Bournemouth's historic European qualification push. His stats for the 2025/26 season include:

Despite his impressive performance, Brown mentioned that United is focusing on different midfield needs:

"From what I’m told, I wouldn’t expect to see them make a move for him at this moment, because he’s not the type of midfielder they’re currently looking for."

United has secured a deal for Ederson from Atalanta, who is expected to replace Casemiro. The club is looking for a midfielder with more physicality and ball-winning capabilities. The Guardian reported that United aims to sign Elliot Anderson, despite competition from Manchester City.

Brown elaborated on United’s midfield strategy:

"They now want another midfielder as well as him, that’s why they’re being linked with Scott and other names they have been impressed by."

While Pep Guardiola praised Scott as ‘unbelievable’ for his performance against Manchester City, Carrick requires a more robust midfielder immediately. If Bournemouth retains Scott this summer, United may revisit their interest later.
