Nottingham Forest finds itself in a precarious position, sitting 19th in the Premier League after a disappointing start to the season. With the arrival of Oliver Glasner as manager and Liam Delap, acquired for £45m, expectations were high. However, the team has yet to score a home goal and has managed only one point at the City Ground.

As Delap prepares to return to Ipswich on Friday, the club remains calm amidst early-season struggles. They aim to avoid the short-termism that plagued them last year, having cycled through three coaches. This summer, they made a bold decision to replace Vítor Pereira with Glasner, hoping for a transformation similar to his success at Crystal Palace.

Glasner's first full season at Palace saw them win just one of their first 13 matches, yet they finished mid-table and won the FA Cup. His tactical approach is new for Forest, who have lost their key player Elliot Anderson. The team’s recruitment strategy focused on necessary improvements, targeting key positions while avoiding past mistakes.

Despite their low scoring, underlying statistics show promise. Forest ranks seventh in expected goals (xG) but has scored only five, leading to a significant underperformance. With 62 shots at home yielding no goals, Glasner's methods need to translate into tangible results quickly to gain fan support.

Delap, still recovering from a challenging year at Chelsea, has yet to find his form, scoring just once for Forest. His pressing style and quick thinking have shown potential, but consistent output remains elusive. Morgan Gibbs-White, absent during a recent match against Arsenal, is also a crucial missing piece for the team.

Glasner, with a proven track record of winning two major trophies at Palace, knows the complexities of developing a team. As he approaches his eighth Premier League match, he remains confident that results will improve, highlighting the need for patience and support from fans and management alike.
