Nottingham Forest has officially sacked Vítor Pereira, marking the club's search for stability with the appointment of Oliver Glasner as their fifth head coach in under a year. The decision came after the club activated a break clause in Pereira's contract late on a Tuesday evening.

Pereira, who took charge in February and successfully guided Forest to safety, was informed of his dismissal via an email just before midnight. The Portuguese manager expressed his surprise, as he had been preparing for the upcoming pre-season in Portugal and engaging in transfer discussions.

Oliver Glasner, who recently departed Crystal Palace, has accepted a three-year contract with Nottingham Forest. The club had previously considered Glasner for the managerial role in December 2023 but opted for Nuno Espírito Santo instead. Now, with high regard from Forest’s technical director George Syrianos, Glasner is seen as a better fit for the squad, aiming to bring the long-term stability the club desperately seeks.

His last tenure at Palace saw him win the Conference League and manage to enhance the team's performance despite significant player departures, including the captain Marc Guéhi.

The managerial turmoil at Forest has been notable, with previous coaches like Ange Postecoglou and Sean Dyche facing challenges that led to their departures. Pereira described his unexpected sacking as disappointing but maintained respect and gratitude for his time at the club, stating, "I will always look back on my time here with pride and affection."

The club finished 16th in the Premier League, just one point behind Crystal Palace, highlighting the urgency for a new direction under Glasner.
