Norway manager Stale Solbakken has openly criticized Liverpool’s defensive frailties, pinpointing Jeremy Frimpong and Milos Kerkez as significant weak links in the squad.

In a revealing interview, Solbakken stated that the full-backs have been a major concern:

• Kerkez struggles to adapt, even under his former manager Andoni Iraola.
• Frimpong is deemed positionally weak, excelling more in attack than defense.

Solbakken also expressed doubts about Virgil van Dijk, suggesting that the defender has regressed significantly and lacks the pace he once had. He questioned whether Van Dijk is nearing the end of his career, stating, “Is Van Dijk singing the last verse? I’m not sure about that.”

Liverpool’s current situation is troubling, as both Frimpong and Kerkez have failed to deliver solid performances. Frimpong, in particular, has struggled since his arrival, while Kerkez has yet to find his form in his debut season with the club.

The team's defensive issues have been evident, contributing to a disappointing start to the season, with draws against Newcastle United and Nottingham Forest. Solbakken emphasized that Liverpool must address these weaknesses if they hope to improve their standing and aspirations for the season.
