David Moyes praised Everton’s resilient response to a troubled week after his side twice came from behind to salvage a point against Manchester United. The match, held at Hill Dickinson Stadium, ended in a 2-2 draw thanks to Ainsley Maitland-Niles’s stunning long-range strike.

Maitland-Niles, who joined on deadline day, made an impactful debut by scoring a 25-yard effort in the 96th minute, following his introduction in the 77th minute for James Garner, who had to leave the pitch due to cramp. This goal preserved Everton's unbeaten start to the season.

Tyrique George also played a crucial role, scoring a superb equaliser that lifted the spirits of the team after a challenging transfer deadline day left Moyes with a weaker squad and only one striker, Thierno Barry.

Moyes emphasized the importance of maintaining a positive mindset among the players, stating, “There would be no excuses from any of us, and the players all agreed. It can hurt you being a player down, but it can also have the opposite reaction.” He acknowledged the challenges ahead, especially with the demanding schedule of three games a week.

In his post-match comments, Moyes also lauded the quality of the goals scored by Maitland-Niles and George, who cancelled out strikes from Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko. He remarked, “It was a brilliant goal, brilliant technique,” referring to Maitland-Niles’ debut performance, highlighting the positive start for the £4.3m signing from Lyon.
