Josh Allen delivered a dramatic performance for the Buffalo Bills, leading them to a thrilling 36-31 victory over the Houston Texans on the opening Sunday of the 2026 NFL season. After a near-catastrophe, Allen connected with Joshua Palmer for a 34-yard touchdown, securing the win with just 1.36 left on the clock. The Texans' hopes dimmed when Kamari Lassiter dropped a potential interception, illustrating the high stakes of Allen's game.

The Bills' defense, under the new direction of Jim Leonhard, clinched the game as Greg Rousseau forced a fumble from CJ Stroud, allowing Terrel Bernard to recover.

In other notable performances, Derrick Henry of the Baltimore Ravens showcased his prowess, rushing for 144 yards and three touchdowns in a commanding 41-23 win against the Indianapolis Colts, moving him to third on the NFL's all-time rushing touchdowns list. At age 32, Henry continues to defy expectations for running backs.

Trevor Lawrence emerged as an MVP contender, leading the Jacksonville Jaguars to a 34-10 victory over the Cleveland Browns with four touchdown passes, extending their winning streak to nine games.

The Chicago Bears displayed impressive offensive capabilities by scoring 59 points in a historic win against the Carolina Panthers. Caleb Williams threw for two touchdowns and combined with D'Andre Swift and Kyle Monangai for over 200 rushing yards.

Losers of the week included Baker Mayfield, who struggled in a loss to the Cincinnati Bengals, and the Cleveland Browns, whose rebuilding efforts faced a setback against the Jaguars.

As the season progresses, the anticipation builds for upcoming matchups, including a clash between the Detroit Lions and the Buffalo Bills.
