Week five in the NFL delivered thrilling action, starting with a disallowed touchdown in London and culminating in an overtime clash in Atlanta. The day kicked off with the Jacksonville Jaguars edging out the Philadelphia Eagles with two late field goals, setting the stage for a series of dramatic finishes.

San Francisco 49ers and Minnesota Vikings emerged as the standout teams, both achieving a 5-0 record for the season.

San Francisco secured a hard-fought 32-29 victory over the defending champions, the Seattle Seahawks. The game featured a notable ejection of defensive star Dre Greenlaw for a headbutt, yet the 49ers capitalized on a season-high seven turnovers, scoring 21 points off turnovers—the most allowed by Seattle in a decade. Quarterback Brock Purdy led the charge, connecting with new wide receiver Mike Evans, who tallied 113 yards and a touchdown. This marks the third time under head coach Kyle Shanahan that the 49ers started the season 5-0, a promising sign as they aim for another NFC Championship.

Meanwhile, the Minnesota Vikings showcased a stellar defensive performance in their 23-13 win against the New Orleans Saints. Under the guidance of defensive coordinator Brian Flores, the Vikings have allowed only 13 points per game, positioning them well as they head into their bye week.

Other notable games included the Washington Commanders and New York Giants tying at 27-27 after a series of late-game blunders, while the Baltimore Ravens edged out the Atlanta Falcons in overtime, thanks to backup quarterback Tyler Huntley. The Green Bay Packers dominated the Chicago Bears, winning 31-7, showcasing the impact of quarterback Jordan Love with 367 yards passing and connecting on two long touchdown throws to Christian Watson.

As the season progresses, the performances of the 49ers and Vikings set a high bar for the competition.
