Nick Woltemade’s time at Newcastle United may be coming to an end as the club prepares to consider permanent offers for the striker following his loan spell at Juventus. The 24-year-old forward, who joined Newcastle from Stuttgart in 2025 for a record fee of £69 million, struggled to make a significant impact during his first season in England, despite contributing 11 goals and six assists in 53 appearances across all competitions.

Earlier this month, Newcastle sanctioned a season-long loan to Juventus, and reports from Football Insider indicate that the club is now open to selling Woltemade in the summer of 2027. This decision comes even though his current loan does not include an option to buy. With Newcastle having bolstered their attack by signing Matias Fernandez-Pardo, Woltemade is no longer seen as part of Matthias Jaissle’s long-term plans.

Woltemade has already begun to make his mark in Turin, scoring his first goal from the penalty spot during a 5-0 Europa League victory over NEC Nijmegen, where he played 83 minutes. His loan agreement with Juventus runs until June 30, 2027, and Jaissle has confirmed that the club will remain in contact regarding Woltemade’s future.

This loan appears to serve as more than just a temporary reset; it resembles an audition for a potential permanent move. Woltemade, who previously netted 18 goals in 36 appearances for Stuttgart and played a crucial role in their German Cup victory, possesses unique attributes, including his 6ft 6in frame and impressive technical skills.

If he excels in Serie A, Newcastle could recuperate a substantial portion of their initial investment, with Juventus and Bayern Munich previously linked to him. From Newcastle’s viewpoint, letting go of a player not aligned with the manager’s vision seems a prudent choice to maintain his market value.
