Newcastle United is reportedly eyeing a transfer for Felix Nmecha, the Borussia Dortmund midfielder currently showcasing his talent at the World Cup 2026 in North America. The German international's impressive performances have sparked interest from major Premier League clubs, including Manchester United.

According to Sky Germany, Manchester United’s chief, Christopher Vivell, has been in contact with Nmecha’s representatives. However, Keith Downie from Sky has revealed that Newcastle is also considering entering the race for the midfielder’s signature.

• Eddie Howe, the Newcastle manager, has expressed admiration for the 25-year-old, having previously considered him before opting for Sandro Tonali in the summer of 2023.
• Nmecha has a substantial £73.5m release clause in his contract with Dortmund, which runs until 2030. Newcastle is reportedly unwilling to meet this asking price.
• Downie noted that unless Dortmund is willing to renegotiate the clause, a deal remains unlikely.
