Newcastle United has officially confirmed the signing of Matias Fernandez-Pardo from Lille, despite Arsenal also exploring a deal for the young talent. Recent reports indicated that Arsenal considered Fernandez-Pardo as a viable option, but Newcastle's interest was reportedly more advanced, leading to this successful acquisition.

In his first statement as a Newcastle player, Fernandez-Pardo expressed his excitement:

“I’m really, really happy to be here and very proud to be at such a big club. I spoke to the head coach and he really showed how much he wanted me to be here.”
He emphasized his ambitions, stating, “I know it’s a fantastic atmosphere... What I’ve seen is a team that’s very ambitious, wants to attack, get forward... I’m still young, I’m still hungry, and that’s why I’m here.”

Arsenal, on the other hand, appears to have missed out on another attacking target this summer. This trend is becoming familiar for the Gunners, as they have also pursued players like Morgan Rogers, Vinicius Junior, Bradley Barcola, and Julian Alvarez, none of whom joined the club.

Additionally, Malick Fofana was reportedly considered by Arsenal before quickly moving towards other options, with Crystal Palace and Sunderland emerging as potential destinations.
