LOS ANGELES – The National Basketball Players Association (NBPA) has officially opened a $50 million, 24/7 training facility in Playa Vista, transforming an old Los Angeles Clippers building into a state-of-the-art hub for players. This initiative, announced on Tuesday, responds to the growing need for a West Coast training center, especially since around 200 NBA players frequent the Los Angeles market during the offseason.

Spanning 42,500 square feet, the new facility boasts significant resources compared to the NBPA's New York office, which has only one court. David Kelly, NBPA Executive Director and CEO of PLYRS UNTD, emphasized the facility's player-centric design, which incorporated direct feedback from athletes.

Trey Murphy, a forward for the New Orleans Pelicans and Vice President of the NBPA Executive Committee, highlighted the necessity of having a regulation court, advanced training equipment, and wellness resources. He stated, "We literally do not have to go anywhere else to work out."

Key features of the PLYRS UNTD Performance Center include:

• Two full-sized basketball courts built to official league specifications
• A fully equipped athletic training room for treatment and rehabilitation
• A premium weight room featuring equipment hand-selected by NBA players
• Advanced recovery amenities, including a sauna, steam room, and meditation pod
• Dedicated turf spaces for both indoor and outdoor training
• An on-site culinary offering with healthy pre- and post-workout options

The facility has already seen over 80 players utilizing its resources shortly after its soft launch this summer. Players can work out at their convenience, fostering healthy competition with peers, as Murphy pointed out, stating, "Iron sharpens iron."

This innovative space not only enhances training opportunities but also reflects the NBPA's commitment to providing players with the tools they need to excel.
