The Oklahoma City Thunder face a challenging season with injuries sidelining key players like Chet Holmgren and Alex Caruso. With a core that includes Shai Gilgeous-Alexander remaining intact, the team has become a focal point for trade speculation, especially since they possess a wealth of assets.

Current Injury Situation

• Jalen Williams and Cason Wallace are both injured, raising concerns about their availability.
• Ajay Mitchell is also questionable for the upcoming game against the Dallas Mavericks.

Trade Rumors

ESPN’s Brian Windhorst hinted at the possibility of the Thunder reacquiring a former player, stating, "If they're going to acquire a player, it would not be a surprise if they acquire a player they've already had."

Former Players of Interest

While the Thunder traded Lu Dort, Aaron Wiggins, and Isaiah Joe last offseason, they are currently unavailable for reacquisition due to NBA rules. Other former Thunder players, however, could be potential targets:

• Russell Westbrook: His high usage and age could complicate a return.
• Chris Paul: Once a key player, but his declining performance raises concerns.
• Victor Oladipo: Still seeking a spot in the league, he could fit well within the Thunder’s defensive framework.
• Al Horford: A veteran presence, but depth issues might limit his appeal.

Practical Targets

Two players stand out as more realistic options:

• Ousmane Dieng: After struggling for playing time, he could provide depth at forward.
• Ty Jerome: Currently excelling with the Memphis Grizzlies, he could be a valuable asset if the Grizzlies decide to sell high.

The Thunder's ability to navigate this injury crisis will be crucial as they consider making moves to bolster their roster while remaining competitive.
