Former Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is in a competitive bid with a consortium that includes the current owners of Tottenham Hotspur, the Lewis family, to acquire the NBA Europe's London-based team. According to Sky News, this consortium is led by the Checketts family, who have a history of owning or investing in various professional sports franchises, including Real Salt Lake in Major League Soccer and the St. Louis Blues in the NHL.

The consortium also features the Eccles family, known for their shares in Burnley FC and Espanyol. This dynamic team of investors is part of the ongoing auction for the highly coveted London franchise.

Levy's involvement comes through a consortium that includes Liberty Global and MSP Sports Capital, which previously backed McLaren Racing. This group is among the frontrunners for the NBA London team, highlighting the rising interest in this new league.

London is emerging as the most sought-after location among the 12 new NBA Europe teams, with other franchises set to debut in cities like Berlin, Manchester, Milan, Munich, Paris, and Rome.

The NBA aims to generate significant revenue by selling team rights, with initial transactions anticipated in the near future. As wealthy U.S. families and investors increasingly invest in UK sports teams, Levy's bid reflects a growing trend in the sports industry. Notably, he stepped down as Spurs' executive chairman in September 2025 after nearly 25 years, with many believing the decision was beyond his control.
