Former NBA champion Kyle Lowry re-signed with the Toronto Raptors for one day before announcing his retirement at the age of 40. This moment marked the end of a remarkable career that saw him play a pivotal role in the Raptors' 2019 NBA championship victory.

After spending recent seasons with the Philadelphia 76ers, Lowry expressed his desire to finish his career with the team that defined much of it. In his heartfelt farewell, he stated, "Thank you to my family, my friends, my team-mates, my coaches, my opponents, the staff, the media and especially the fans. It's all about you. I appreciate you. Thank you. Thank you, Toronto. Thank you, Canada. And as I always told y'all, it's officially happening. I'm retiring as a Toronto Raptor."

During his nine seasons with the Raptors, Lowry earned six All-Star selections and wore the number 7 jersey proudly. He also played for the Memphis Grizzlies, Houston Rockets, and Miami Heat before returning to his hometown team.

In addition to his retirement, Lowry and his wife have joined the ownership group of WNBA team Toronto Tempo.
