Alabama basketball has officially announced that Alex Accetta, wife of head coach Nate Oats, will return to the program in a new capacity. This decision was revealed on Thursday, marking Accetta's re-entry into the team after a successful stint with the Dallas Mavericks.

Accetta's journey with Alabama basketball began in 2015 as a student assistant. Her dedication led to a series of promotions:

• 2017: Promoted to operations coordinator
• 2021: Became director of operations

In her new role as director of program relations, Accetta will report to Shane Lyons, Alabama's executive deputy athletic director and men's basketball sport administrator. Lyons expressed confidence in Accetta's abilities, stating, "Alex has an extensive background and proven success in this space at both the collegiate and professional levels."

Having spent the last four seasons with the Mavericks, Accetta brings valuable experience back to Alabama. During her NBA tenure, she focused on guest experience, enhancing her skills in program management. Previously, her responsibilities with the Crimson Tide involved overseeing team travel, logistics, and coordinating on-campus recruiting visits.

A proud graduate of Alabama with a degree in business management, Accetta completed her studies in May 2017. In a personal note, she and Oats celebrated their marriage earlier this summer on July 26. This new chapter not only strengthens the basketball program but also highlights the close-knit community surrounding Alabama basketball.
