It seems Ansu Fati’s tenure at FC Barcelona is nearing its conclusion after 14 years. The 23-year-old forward, who has spent two of the last three seasons on loan, is poised to leave on a permanent basis for the first time since joining from Sevilla as a child.

Fati joined AS Monaco on loan last summer, following a season where he struggled for minutes under Hansi Flick, limited by the presence of stars like Robert Lewandowski and Raphinha. In Ligue 1, he has faced challenges, including injuries, playing only 1,199 minutes across 28 appearances, but he managed to score 11 goals, averaging a goal every 109 minutes.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, AS Monaco plans to exercise their €11m buy option for Fati this summer, while Barcelona will retain a 20% sell-on clause if the deal is finalized. Fati's contract with Barcelona runs until 2028, and he is one of the club's higher earners.

However, reports from Marca indicate that Monaco intends to negotiate further with Barcelona at the end of the season to reduce the purchase price. It appears certain that Fati will not return to the Catalan capital, as Barcelona seeks to finalize the deal before the end of June to aid in salary limit calculations.

Gabriel Sans, a journalist from Mundo Deportivo, also noted that Monaco's approach depends on the terms of the deal, emphasizing that either the price must decrease or Fati’s wages should be adjusted. This situation could lead to Fati negotiating terms directly with Barcelona.
