The New England Revolution have condemned discriminatory chants from CF Montréal fans during their MLS match in Quebec on Saturday, which targeted Israeli striker Dor Turgeman. Broadcast microphones captured supporters chanting "free Palestine" shortly before Turgeman scored, prompting the club to label the remarks as "antisemitic" and "discriminatory."

On Monday, MLS acknowledged the reports, stating they were aware of the incidents and had launched an investigation into the matter. The Revolution expressed their condemnation of the abuse directed at Turgeman, emphasizing their commitment to reporting such incidents.

"The Revolution strongly condemn the antisemitic and discriminatory abuse directed at forward Dor Turgeman by CF Montreal supporters during Saturday’s away match," the club stated.

Turgeman's response to the jeers was notable; after scoring in the 36th minute to give New England a 2-0 lead, he celebrated by standing with outstretched arms in front of the home supporters, further engaging the crowd by raising his hand to his ear.

The match ultimately ended in a 2-2 draw. In response to the events, Montréal announced they would investigate the situation, asserting their zero-tolerance policy towards discrimination.

"The club does not tolerate discrimination, or hateful behavior of any kind," their statement read.

This incident follows an MLS ban on both Israeli and Palestinian flags at venues, a decision made after the Hamas attack on Israel in October 2023, although exceptions exist for players from the respective regions.
