Former Wolverhampton Wanderers captain Mike Bailey passed away at the age of 84 after a prolonged illness.

Bailey, who proudly earned two caps for England, began his professional journey at Charlton Athletic before joining Wolves in 1966. During his time at Molineux, he made an impressive 436 appearances and netted 25 goals.

• Lifting the League Cup in 1974
• Playing a pivotal role in reaching the Uefa Cup final in 1972
• Securing promotion back to the top flight in his final season with Wolves

After his successful tenure at Wolves, Bailey briefly played in the North American Soccer League (NASL) with Minnesota Kicks. He returned to England to take on the role of player-manager at Hereford, and later managed several clubs including Charlton, Brighton, OFI in Greece, and non-league side Leatherhead.

Bailey’s contributions to football, both on and off the pitch, have left a lasting legacy in the sport.
