Andrew Cornish, the Chief Executive of Middlesex County Cricket Club, has been dismissed following upheld misconduct charges by an independent disciplinary panel. This decision comes after a complaint regarding his behavior towards a fellow staff member, leading to his suspension last November and subsequent investigation by the Cricket Regulator.

In a statement to The Guardian, Middlesex confirmed that Cornish was officially dismissed in June. The Regulator had charged him with misconduct, which was then taken to the Cricket Disciplinary Panel (CDP). The allegations, while serious, are not criminal in nature, and the case has not been referred to the Metropolitan Police.

Despite denying any wrongdoing, Cornish is now exploring his legal options. During his absence, Middlesex appointed two interim chief executives: Mahdi Choudhury, the club's chief operating officer, and Julie Harrington, the former head of British Cycling, who is a strong candidate for the permanent role.

Harrington will address Middlesex members for the first time at a fans’ forum event next Tuesday, alongside chairman Richard Sykes, where updates on Cornish’s situation may be provided.

Cornish joined Middlesex in 2020 as a consultant and later became CEO, overseeing a challenging period marked by significant financial losses and a legal dispute with former CEO Richard Goatley. In September 2023, Middlesex faced a suspended points deduction and a £50,000 fine from the England and Wales Cricket Board for breaching financial regulations.

Additionally, Middlesex was charged with improper conduct related to complaints against another senior employee in June 2024 but was found not guilty by the CDP. Cornish's previous tenure at Somerset ended in dismissal in 2019, further complicating his career trajectory.
