Middlesbrough has secured a deal for Tottenham Hotspur striker Will Lankshear, which could escalate to a club-record £20 million. The agreement starts with an initial payment of approximately £10 million, with the potential for an additional £10 million in add-ons tied to various performance incentives.

The 21-year-old forward is currently negotiating personal terms, amid competing interest from other clubs. Lankshear spent the previous season on loan at Oxford United, where he demonstrated his skills by scoring 11 goals and providing four assists in 44 Championship matches.

Having joined Tottenham from Sheffield United in 2022, Lankshear has showcased his talent at the youth level:

• He netted 23 goals for the Under-21 side, contributing to their victory in the 2023-24 Premier League 2 title.
• His outstanding performance earned him the title of the league's player of the season.

Lankshear made his senior debut in October 2024 against Ferencvaros in the Europa League, where he scored his first senior goal but was sent off in his subsequent match against Galatasaray.

This signing marks Middlesbrough's fourth acquisition of the summer, following the arrivals of Miles Peart-Harris from Oxford, Jeremy Sarmiento from Brighton, and Kyle Joseph from Hull City. The club's transfer activity comes on the heels of midfielder Hayden Hackney's departure to Everton for around £16 million. Additionally, Middlesbrough stands to gain a significant sell-on fee if Chelsea finalizes the £117 million signing of former attacker Morgan Rogers.
