Norris had been leading by nearly two seconds before the pivotal pit stop, but Mercedes opted to pit Antonelli first, giving him a significant advantage on fresher tires.

Upon pitting, Norris emerged just ahead of Antonelli, but the Italian teenager quickly gained momentum and seized the lead at Turn 4, ultimately clinching his third victory in a row and extending his lead in the Drivers' Championship to 20 points over George Russell.

Norris finished three seconds behind Antonelli and remarked, "How did we not win this? We should have won, guys." He acknowledged the undercut strategy, stating, "We just got undercut – no excuses other than that. We should have boxed first. Kimi did a good job. Hats off to Merc and Kimi."

Despite the disappointment, Norris recognized the positives from the weekend, having converted a Sprint pole into victory and showcasing competitive pace throughout the race. He urged for a review of McLaren's strategy, expressing concern over the team's hesitance to react proactively during the race.

Andrea Stella, McLaren's team principal, echoed Norris's sentiments, confirming they had an opportunity to win but fell short in execution during the pit stop phase. The result further tightened the gap in the Constructors' Championship, with Oscar Piastri finishing third and Russell fourth, leaving McLaren 86 points behind Mercedes.

Stella remained optimistic, highlighting the team's progress from a challenging start to the season and the potential for upcoming upgrades to enhance their performance.
