Mercedes boss Toto Wolff expressed no disappointment over Max Verstappen's recent contract extension with Red Bull Racing, which secures the Dutch driver until 2030. This announcement came just before the Dutch Grand Prix, quelling speculation about Verstappen's future amid rumors linking him to Mercedes and McLaren.

Previously, Verstappen's contract included exit clauses allowing him to leave by 2027, prompting Wolff's interest after Lewis Hamilton's decision to join Ferrari in 2025. However, Wolff affirmed his satisfaction with his current driver lineup, Kimi Antonelli and George Russell, who are leading the Drivers' Championship.

In an interview with Sky Sports F1, Wolff stated:

Most important was that we had the clarity in the team since a long time. We're committed to George and Kimi, and in a way, that was just a logical consequence of what happened now. Silly season is officially cancelled now, and everybody can concentrate on the racing.

Despite previous interests, Wolff emphasized his contentment with the team, stating, "No, not at all" when asked about disappointment regarding Verstappen's commitment.

The shift in focus may stem from Antonelli's impressive form, leading the standings with a 59-point advantage over Russell after a record-breaking start to the season. Meanwhile, McLaren remains satisfied with their successful pairing of Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri.

Nico Rosberg, a former Mercedes champion, praised Verstappen's decision, noting it was vital for stability in Formula 1. He speculated that Verstappen's talks with McLaren were merely a strategy to strengthen his position at Red Bull, where he is reportedly earning between £70-90 million a year.
