Mark Cuban has accused Dallas Mavericks governor Patrick Dumont of intentionally cutting him out of business opportunities related to the team's potential relocation, as reported by The Dallas Morning News on Wednesday.

Cuban alleges that Dumont has engaged in "adversarial business practices" aimed at moving the franchise approximately 10 miles north of downtown Dallas, specifically to the site of a former mall. Both a Mavericks spokeswoman and Cuban declined to comment when contacted by The Associated Press.

In 2023, Cuban divested his majority stake in the Mavericks, selling it to the families of Miriam Adelson and Patrick Dumont. He claims to have had an agreement to oversee basketball operations but alleges that Dumont instead granted former general manager Nico Harrison full control over basketball decisions.

Cuban revealed in a filing that he was unaware of Harrison's plan to trade superstar Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers in February 2025 until it was too late to intervene. This trade reportedly backfired, resulting in Harrison's dismissal in November due to the team's poor performance early in the 2025-26 season.

Despite retaining a 27% ownership stake in the Mavericks, a clause in the purchase agreement allows the Adelson and Dumont families to acquire an additional 20% of his remaining shares.

Cuban's filing comes shortly after the Mavericks secured an option agreement to purchase approximately 104 acres in north Dallas. This forms part of a broader plan to construct a new arena, projected to open in 2031, coinciding with the expiration of the Mavericks' current lease at American Airlines Center.
