Manchester United finds itself in turmoil following a dismal 4-1 defeat to Como, marking a new low for head coach Michael Carrick. This loss has left Carrick "angry" and exposed rifts within the squad, notably with club captain Bruno Fernandes openly criticizing the tactical approach.

The team is enduring its worst-ever start to a Premier League season, having gone seven matches without a win across all competitions. This decline is a stark contrast to last season's impressive finish, which had led to Carrick's contract extension until 2028.

Key issues contributing to this poor performance include:

• Summer Transfer Failures: United spent £163m, yet failed to adequately strengthen critical areas like left-back and striker, leaving the squad lacking depth.
• Fitness and Intensity: Concerns about the players' fitness levels have emerged, with United being out-run in six of their seven league games. Carrick himself acknowledged that without proper effort, victory is unattainable.
• Fernandes’ Struggles: The star playmaker has seen a drastic drop in form, with only one goal involvement in his last nine games.
• Attacking Woes: Despite leading the league in shots, United's forwards rank poorly in shot quality, indicating a lack of effective finishing.
• Defensive Issues: United has failed to keep a clean sheet this season, with injuries and suspensions exacerbating their defensive frailties.

Looking ahead, United hopes to regain some form against Bournemouth, with potential returns for key players like Marcus Rashford and Lisandro Martinez. Fernandes emphasized the need for a mental shift, stating that early goals conceded have demoralized the team. For Carrick and his squad, recapturing last season’s momentum appears a daunting challenge.
