Manchester United's official Fans’ Forum, Manchester United Supporters Trust (Must), The 1958, and several other supporter groups have raised concerns over the club's recent decision to suspend season tickets. This action, aimed at curbing illegal seat reselling, has left fans feeling unfairly targeted.

Last week, the club reached out to fans who accessed accounts using six or more devices, suggesting potential ticket reselling activity. Members are permitted only to forward tickets to fellow members or sell them back to the club. Those contacted were required to clarify their device usage and provide photo ID to verify their accounts. A communication from United stated:
“Following a detailed review of activity across our ticketing and digital platforms, we have identified sustained activity associated with your account... which may indicate a breach of the club’s ticketing terms and conditions.”

As a result, many fans faced account suspensions and had their season tickets frozen, with only three days to appeal—despite the club's usual 14-day policy. A joint statement from supporter groups expressed that while combating professional touting is essential, the approach must be fair and transparent.

The club believes that the expedited appeal process is necessary to prevent ticket sales for illegal resale.
