Tottenham’s promising winger Tynan Thompson has officially signed with Manchester United in a deal valued at up to £8 million. The transfer comes after Thompson, a Spurs academy product, expressed frustration over limited first-team opportunities despite being named on the bench three times in the 2025-26 season.

During the previous season, the 18-year-old showcased his talent by scoring seven goals in the Uefa Youth League and consistently impressing while playing left wing for the under-21 squad.

Factors leading to Thompson's departure include:

• A desire for more first-team playtime.
• Personal family circumstances, as his family wishes to relocate to the Manchester area.

Thompson faced significant personal challenges, including the unexpected death of his father last November. The agreement with Manchester United includes an initial fee of £4 million, with an additional £4 million contingent on performance-related add-ons.

Furthermore, the deal features a 15 to 20 percent sell-on clause and matching rights, allowing Tottenham the option to re-sign Thompson in the future if desired.
