Manchester United is reportedly gearing up for a January bid for Diego Gomez, the Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder, as they aim to bolster their midfield options for the second half of the season.

According to Hooligan Soccer, the Red Devils have positioned themselves as the frontrunners to secure the Paraguayan international, with Arsenal and Atletico Madrid also showing interest in his development.

Diego Gomez, just 23 years old, has made a significant impact at Brighton since joining from Inter Miami. His impressive performances, characterized by energy, physical strength, and attacking contributions, have caught the eye of several European giants. Notably, he showcased his technical prowess with a stunning long-range goal against Crystal Palace.

His versatility allows him to excel in various midfield roles, making him a compelling target for Manchester United, who seek to enhance the dynamism and physicality of their midfield. Gomez's skills in recovering possession and facilitating attacking transitions could prove beneficial for the squad.

While Arsenal and Atletico Madrid are keen on Gomez, Manchester United appears to be the club most likely to make a formal offer when the January transfer window opens.

However, persuading Brighton to part ways with Gomez won't be easy. The Seagulls recently extended his contract until June 2031, strengthening their negotiating power and indicating their commitment to his future. Reports suggest Brighton may demand between €50 million and €60 million for his transfer, complicating matters for United.

As negotiations loom, Manchester United must decide whether to meet Brighton's financial expectations or consider other targets, especially with competition from Arsenal and Atletico Madrid.
