Manchester United has secured the signing of goalkeeper Karl Darlow on a two-year contract, with an option for an additional year. This move is anticipated to pave the way for the departure of Altay Bayindir, the Turkey international who nearly transferred to Besiktas in January.

Darlow's contract with Leeds United expired this summer. Although he received a new deal offer, he chose to make the switch across the Pennines. Leeds confirmed his departure, stating, "Leeds United can confirm Karl Darlow has left the club upon the expiration of his contract to pursue an opportunity elsewhere."

Despite the offer to stay in West Yorkshire, Darlow expressed his desire for a new challenge, leaving the club with the best wishes from everyone at Elland Road. Darlow ended the previous season as the first-choice keeper under manager Daniel Farke, having made a total of 279 appearances at club level and earning 15 caps for Wales.

In his own words, Darlow stated, "I am extremely proud to sign for Manchester United. I'm joining an excellent group of goalkeepers and I'm really looking forward to all pushing each other to ensure that we maintain the highest standards, which this club demands."

As the season approaches, Darlow is expected to serve as the backup to first-choice goalkeeper Senne Lammens. With Lammens taking a three-week break following Belgium's World Cup campaign, Darlow is set to play a significant role during Manchester United's pre-season, starting with a match against Wrexham in Helsinki on 18 July.
