Jamie Carragher has sharply criticized Bruno Fernandes for questioning the tactics of Manchester United following their disheartening 4-1 defeat to Como. Carragher suggests that this incident could signal the end of the line for manager Michael Carrick.

In the aftermath of the match, Fernandes expressed dissatisfaction with the decision not to implement a man-to-man pressing strategy. In response, Carrick emphasized that without effort in defense, winning becomes nearly impossible, stating, "if you don't run back, you ain't going to win."

This controversy echoes a previous incident where Lisandro Martinez criticized the club's hierarchy after a 2-0 loss to Atletico Madrid. Carragher had condemned Martinez’s comments and adopted a similar stance regarding Fernandes's remarks:

• Carragher described Fernandes's behavior as a disgrace, given his prior success under Carrick’s management.
• He pointed out that Fernandes's attitude and on-field actions harm the team's overall performance.
• Carragher referenced the legacy of former captain Brian Robson, who never blamed others despite challenges, contrasting it with Fernandes's frequent displays of frustration on the pitch.

Carragher also remarked on the broader issues within Manchester United, stating, "the club is rotten from top to bottom," and expressed relief that Carrick confronted Fernandes about his lack of effort.

Reflecting on the implications of the defeat, Carragher noted it might lead to significant consequences for Carrick's tenure as manager. He remarked, "It looks like another Man Utd manager is going to bite the dust."

Adding to the discussion, Danyal Khan from Sky Sports highlighted Carrick's demeanor post-match, emphasizing his dejection and the stark contrast with previous managerial responses to poor performances. Carrick’s refusal to deflect criticism while accepting responsibility was seen as a notable shift in his approach.
