Michael Carrick has enhanced the squad's technical quality and depth, yet the club is still keen on securing an elite ball-carrying midfielder before the transfer window closes. The latest player under consideration is Eduardo Camavinga, who would bring Champions League experience, athleticism, and versatility to the team.

However, the primary challenge lies not just in negotiations with Real Madrid, but also in Camavinga's commitment to remain at the Bernabéu and compete for a crucial role.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United has contemplated an approach for Camavinga in their internal recruitment discussions. Despite being one of several midfield options, his preference leans towards staying with Real Madrid rather than moving to the Premier League.

United's interest aligns with their broader recruitment strategy, having already invested £82m in Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans while still considering another midfield addition. Other candidates include Roma’s Manu Koné and Bournemouth’s Alex Scott, though potential fees ranging from £60m to £80m could complicate further deals.

Camavinga's unique skill set, particularly his ability to recover possession and navigate through pressure, could provide Carrick with greater control during intense matches.

Real Madrid is under no obligation to accept a reduced offer, with Camavinga contracted until June 2029, placing them in a strong negotiating position. Although pursuing ambitious targets is prudent, United should avoid investing time in a player who prefers to stay in Madrid. Keeping Camavinga on their shortlist while focusing on more realistic alternatives is advisable. If his stance shifts, United must be prepared to act swiftly; until then, patience is crucial.
