Manchester City has officially signed Elliot Anderson from Nottingham Forest, with the deal expected to be completed once the player returns from the World Cup. The 23-year-old midfielder is currently with the England squad, preparing for a last-16 match against Mexico.

The transfer agreement was confirmed by Manchester City, stating:

While initial reports indicated a British record fee of £130m, sources suggest the final figure is closer to £116m, establishing a new club record for City, but still below the £125m paid by Liverpool for Alexander Isak last summer.

Anderson is the first signing of the post-Pep Guardiola era and is poised to significantly aid new manager Enzo Maresca. He has been a key player in all four of England’s matches in the tournament, earning accolades from national team boss Thomas Tuchel, who praised him as "the full package."

As England prepares for the match against Mexico on Sunday, Anderson is expected to remain in the midfield. His partnership with Declan Rice has been strong, although Rice's potential shift to right-back could lead to adjustments in the midfield lineup, possibly involving Jude Bellingham or Kobbie Mainoo.
