Paul Magnier of Soudal Quick-Step clinched his third victory in the Giro d’Italia by triumphing in a thrilling bunch sprint on stage 18 in Pieve di Soligo. The 22-year-old French sprinter was expertly positioned by teammate Jasper Stuyven during the crucial final turns, allowing him to surge ahead after 171km of intense racing.

In the final standings for the stage, Edoardo Zambanini from Bahrain Victorious finished second, while Jonathan Milan of Lidl-Trek took third place. Magnier's victory, following his earlier wins in the first and third stages in Bulgaria, propelled him to the top of the points classification.

Meanwhile, Jonas Vingegaard, the overall race leader from Team Visma-Lease A Bike, attempted to capitalize on a challenging climb inside the final 10km but ultimately settled for a place in the main bunch to maintain his substantial lead of 4:03 minutes with just three stages remaining.

The stage became electrifying after a four-man breakaway, featuring Mattia Bais and Andrea Mifsud from Polti-VisitMalta, Jonas Geens of Alpecin-Premier Tech, and James Shaw from EF Education-EasyPost, was caught with about 25km left. The 1.1km Il Muro di Ca del Poggio ramp, with steep gradients of 19%, added drama but ultimately favored the sprinters.

Magnier expressed his elation post-race, stating, "I had a lot of confidence this morning. My teammates made it into a sprint and I’m so happy to win. Jasper made an amazing lead-out." His performance solidified his status as a formidable contender in this year's Giro.
