Brighton & Hove Albion has submitted an improved offer worth £45m to Tottenham Hotspur for centre-back Luka Vuskovic. This latest proposal includes performance-related add-ons, and reports indicate that the Croatian international is eager to join the Seagulls on the south coast.

Vuskovic recently spent the previous season on loan at Hamburg in the Bundesliga and is currently representing Croatia at the World Cup, where he participated in their 4-2 defeat to England on Wednesday.

In a related transfer move, Tottenham secured Jan Paul Van Hecke from Brighton for £52m earlier this week. Van Hecke, who had one year left on his contract, was a key player under manager Roberto De Zerbi during the 2023-2024 season. Brighton made a significant profit on his transfer, having acquired him for just £1.8m from NAC Breda in 2020, and they negotiated a 20 percent sell-on clause as part of the deal.

With the additions of Van Hecke and Marco Senesi to their squad, Vuskovic finds himself further down the defensive hierarchy at Spurs, where he competes with Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven.

In other transfer news, Barcelona has entered the race to sign Van de Ven, who is also attracting interest from several Premier League clubs. He has had initial discussions with Tottenham regarding a contract extension, but no agreement has been reached yet. Van de Ven has two years remaining on his current deal, with Spurs holding an option to extend for an additional year.

As both clubs prepare for the upcoming 2026/27 Premier League season, Brighton will kick off at home against Aston Villa on August 23, while Tottenham will begin their campaign with an away match against Brentford on August 22.
