Luis de la Fuente anticipates that Marc Cucurella will honor his promise to tattoo the Spain manager’s face on his body following their World Cup victory. Spain triumphed over Argentina in a decisive final, with Ferran Torres netting the winning goal in extra time, marking the nation’s second tournament title.

This achievement signifies a golden era for Spanish football, as they also hold titles in both the European Championship and the Women’s World Cup. Prior to the tournament, Cucurella had pledged to get the tattoo if Spain lifted the trophy, and De la Fuente expects him to follow through.

“They made a mistake, but they are men of their word, and they will stick to their word — I am not too ugly, they will just need to find a part of their body which is not too visible,” De la Fuente joked, alluding to similar promises made by others.

The tattoo commitment has precedence; Mack Hansen, an Irish rugby player, tattooed his coach Andy Farrell after winning the 2023 Six Nations. Since taking over in 2022, De la Fuente has revitalized Spain into a formidable force, nurturing new talent from the country’s youth ranks.
