Nottingham Forest prepares to make a £45m offer for Tottenham midfielder Lucas Bergvall. This follows Spurs' rejection of Forest's initial £38m bid for the 20-year-old player last week.

Lucas Bergvall, the Sweden international, is reportedly keen on the move to the City Ground. His playing time diminished towards the end of last season under Tottenham boss Roberto de Zerbi, often sidelined from his preferred number six position.

During his inaugural press conference as the new Forest boss, Oliver Glasner hinted at potential signings without directly addressing Bergvall. He stated, "I have one strength and weakness, it's impatience. Sometimes it's a strength, sometimes it's a weakness."

Bergvall joined Spurs in 2024 from Djurgarden and was named the club's player of the year after a standout first Premier League season. He contributed to Spurs' Europa League victory, ending a 17-year trophy drought. After signing a new contract in April 2025 that extends until 2031, he played 33 games last season, although he faced a two-month layoff due to ankle surgery.

With 14 caps for Sweden and an appearance at the World Cup, where Sweden was eliminated by France in the last 32, Bergvall's experience is recognized.

In addition to pursuing Bergvall, Forest seeks another midfielder after Elliot Anderson's record-breaking transfer to Manchester City. However, they are not planning another extensive spending spree like last summer's 13-player £180m influx, focusing instead on quality signings. A goalkeeper to support Matz Sels and John Victor, as well as a striker to assist Chris Wood and Igor Jesus, are also on the club's radar.
