Liverpool has seen its improved bid of £60m for winger Yankuba Minteh turned down by Brighton. The south coast club reportedly seeks around £70m for the 22-year-old Gambia international, indicating a continuing negotiation between the two teams.

The urgency for Liverpool arises from manager Andoni Iraola's acknowledgment of a lack of wingers as the season approaches. He expressed confidence in finding a solution before the transfer window closes, following an earlier £50m offer for Minteh that was also rejected.

Minteh, who joined Brighton from Newcastle for £30m in 2024, has made a significant impact, scoring 10 goals and providing nine assists in 73 appearances for the Seagulls. Liverpool is also considering a move for Ibrahim Mbaye from Paris St-Germain and has its sights set on Bradley Barcola as a primary target to bolster their attacking options.

Iraola commented on the transfer situation:

I wanted the players for the first day on 13 July - everyone here and all the positions doubled with top-level players.
