Liverpool manager Andoni Iraola expressed his desire to keep midfielder Alexis Mac Allister and goalkeeper Alisson at the club as they prepare for the new season.

Alexis Mac Allister, who joined Liverpool in 2023, has two years remaining on his five-year contract. Despite his impressive performances, including a strong showing at the World Cup, there are concerns over his future as he has not yet initiated talks for a new deal. Iraola emphasized Mac Allister's importance, stating, "I think Alexis has been one of the best players at the club for the last few years. It is normal that other clubs want our best players."

On the other hand, Alisson, with just one year left on his contract, has been linked with a potential move to Juventus. However, Iraola is keen to utilize the 33-year-old Brazilian's experience in the upcoming season. He noted, "Alisson is someone that definitely will help us in this process of adaptation of the new signings, of the new players, the young players."

Iraola also acknowledged the need for defensive reinforcements, particularly at right-back, as Conor Bradley is sidelined due to a knee injury. The manager commented on the current squad's depth, saying, "In terms of defensive depth, we are very thin right now, so I think it's a solution that we are trying to find."

With the summer transfer window open, Liverpool aims to strengthen their squad while retaining their key players.
